Robinson Crusoe is the typical english adventure novel. It is the author’s fictional autobiography, probably based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish miner who was lost for four years on a Pacific island.
Published in 1719, it was a great success among its readers for the wonderful adventures that its protagonist experienced. Definitely a classic of world literature.
