In Cold Blood is novel based in the real events surrounding the Clutter’s assesination in the small town of Holcomb in Kansas. A farmer and his family are brutally murdered by two convicted criminals on probation, who arrive with the intention of stealing and get away with a large sum of money. But finding nothing of value on the farm, they lash out at the farmer, his wife, and their two teenage children.

The novel written by the eccentric writer Truman Capote and with the collaboration of the also famous writer Harper Lee, takes sides and connects more with the perpetrators than with the victims. It’s been said that Capote gets on and maintained a romantic relationship with one of the assassins, so when he writes about their horrible families as a justifications for the horrible crimes, it is all lies as many of the claims are false, in order to make the reader more sympathetic towars the assassins.

The book was taken to the big screen on several occasions, the most important being the film Capote, with the oscar award-winnig performance of Philip Seymour Hoffman in the role of the unconventional writer.
